BATES HUNTER MINE
CENTRAL CITY, CO

We're reopening the "Richest Square Mile on Earth" with GS Mining Company. From dewatering to 750 ft and rehabilitation of the shaft and multiple levels, plus on-site water treatment, we're bringing gold mining back to where it originally started in CO.

The Bates Hunter Mine is a historic shaft mine located in the Central City Mining District, the oldest mining district in Colorado and the central district of the Front Range mineral belt. The Bates Hunter has established gold veins over 22 acres and was first mined after gold was discovered in Colorado in 1859. Jon H. Gregory discovered the "Gregory Lode" in a gulch near present-day Central City. This gulch, of which the Bates vein originates, came to be known as "the richest square mile on Earth."

The Bates Hunter Mine was closed in 1936, and a few small operations continued work at the mine over the years. We're now bringing the mine back to its full operation. Reports indicated substantial gold is still within the veins of the Bates Hunter.

We're proud to be bringing gold mining back to Colorado!
