LONDON TUNNEL

Black Fox was contracted to survey and design the connection of a directionally drilled well into the depths of the London mine at the tunnel level.  Optically surveying over two miles of steep terrain and underground workings at high elevation, our team designed the connection, giving the drillers an elevation and azimuth.  Difficult fault conditions led to loss of circulation, entrapment and eventual abandonment of the expensive drill tooling at fifty-five feet from target.  Black Fox then designed and excavated an access drift to recover the tooling in very difficult conditions.  The tooling was recovered into the mine using Black Fox designed hydraulic tools, the drill subs were cut and the tools recovered, including the 33-foot long mud motor, and the 31 and 28 foot long flex sections.  We appreciated being a part of this unique project and being the “only guys in the world to have done that!!”
